Announcements: Chapter 2: Motion in One Dimension

Hand-waving exercise:  Interpret velocity and acceleration graphs

(take class photos while students work on the following exercise)
Exercise:  A car accelerates from 0 to 30 m/s in 6 seconds
 - Sketch the position versus time graph
 - Sketch the velocity versus time graph
 - Sketch the acceleration versus time graph

Equations of motion for constant acceleration: (see Table 2.3 on p.36)
Note:  These equations come from integrating and the definitions of velocity and acceleration

Draw a graph of vertical velocity as a function of time for a ball thrown up to a height of 5 m and then caught.
