WIND INSTRUMENTS 2005

Shannon plays the Warrior Call.  It is played like a bugle, though it is cylindrical.  The two openings at the end can be stopped to change the pitch and the timbre.

Stephen’s Baritone Conophone is also bugle-like.  He can sound several partials on it, though the higher ones are somewhat sharp according to a conventional scale.

Veronica and Ben both play flute-like instruments.  Hers is the Flutemathing in the key of A, his is the Prayer Stick in E.  Their similar construction gives them similar timbres.  Both made use of duct tape in closing the head of the pipe.

Patrick and Philip both have oboe-like instruments that use plastic straws as double reeds.  Patrick’s Pretty Vivacious Contraption (PVC) sounds like a snake-charmer’s instrument, whereas Philip’s Dinerphone sounds more like a duck.

Sam’s Didjeridon’t can be played in two versions.  The second version adds an extender with a tissue vibrator to give a more kazoo-like sound.  It takes two people to play in this form (at least until Sam figures out how to keep the extender in place).
