Analysis of startup, shutdown and middle sequences, Campaign 14 Abstract: All SRSRN results are within limits. As in previous campaigns, SH and LL are within the SURN limits, but SL and LH are more problematic. Both failed in three out of six cases. The SRSRN results remain very stable, as in previous campaigns, and the SURN results are more stable than in past campaigns, all modules are within the 20% yellow limit. There is a 19% variation in LL and a 15% in SL, but the rest are all within 10%; Some of the tests report stability to the 2% level. Latent images invalidate much of the photoresponse stability tests. In LL and LH, the orders are clearly visible, while SL continues to display unusual latent images in the PU arrays, with 70 pixels over the red limit in all comparisons. SH has latent images of emission lines and a strong continuum at higher wavelength in one test. LH has one pixel over the red limit: 114,83. In LL three pixels exceeded the red limit, and they have all done so before: 16,12, 13,72 and 76,64 Analysts: Lei Hao & Greg Sloan Procedure version: 2.7 Campaign 14, Startup, Shutdown and Mid-campaign anneal YEAR 2004 DOY 293 CE1 used for all data collection AORKEY = 12214528 for startup AORKEY = 12228608 for the mid-campaign anneal sequence AORKEY = 12223488 for shutdown Number of files = 64 for each No known errors. For SUR data, the quoted values are the standard deviation of the read noise map. For SRS data, these are the median of the standard deviation map. Comments: All SRSRN data are within limits. Both SH and LL SURN are within limits, as in the previous campaigns. SL SURN has three counts of over the limit: after the anneal at startup (9.6 DN) and in the middle of the campaign (8.3 DN) and before the anneal in the shutdown shutdown (9.1 DN). The LH SURN exceeds the limit three times, once marginally: pre-anneal and post-anneal in the middle sequence (18.5 and 18.0 DN respectively), and pre-anneal during shutdown (17.7 DN). The SURN results are more stable than they have been in recent campaigns, with no cases reaching the yellow limit. There is a 19% variation in LL from the middle anneal to the shutdown sequences and a 15% variation in SL from startup to the middle sequence. The rest of the variations (10 cases) are all within 10%. Six of them are better than 2%. There are no module without hundreds of pixels over the yellow limit. For LL and LH, the orders are clearly visible. This issue has been ongoing in recent campaigns for LL. SL continues to show weird latent images in the Peak-up array, and before the anneal in the shutdown sequence, residual emission lines are visible in SL1, which have pushed many pixels over the yellow limit and 70 over the red limit. SH behaves well up to shutdown, when latent images of several strong emission lines appear, pushing over 300 pixels over the limit. One LH pixel exceeds the red limit: 114,83. In LL, three pixels exceed the red limit: 16,12, 13,72, 76,64. The first two also failed in Campaign 13, and the last one failed in Campaign 11 and before. (The relavant comparison images are stored as ps files in the IRS_002 and IRS_003 directories. The ps file names should be self-explanatory.)
