Research Findings
2) Even if stated, most students do not justify
their conclusions based on the uncertainty
Judgements are made based on arbitrary criteria:
– “Our percent error was only 4%, so our experiment
proved the theory.”
– “I decide by how much two measurements differ in
order to see if they agree.”
– “The result should be accurate as long as the error is
less than 10%.”
